Hidalgo, one of the owners, has been in the thoroughbred business for over 40 years. At the age of 17, he followed in the foot steps of his father and brother, becoming a jockey and racing at the President Ramon Race Track in Panama City, Panama. In 1963, he moved with his wife to Mexico in pursuit of a better life and started racing at the Hiprodomo Las America-Race Track. In Mexico DF, he had a very successful career, winning two out of the three races composing Mexico's version of the Triple Crown and attaining the second leading jockey status in 1967.

Striving still in pursuit of a better life, in 1968 he settled in Cincinnati, Ohio with his family. For the next 20 years he rode mainly the Kentucky-Ohio race track circuit, though he also rode in Detroit, Chicago, Rhode Island and Florida. During this time, his riding career prospered. He was leading jockey in the fall of 1971 at Latonia Racetrack (today Turfway Park), spring of 1972 at Latonia, summer of 1972 at River Downs, and spring and fall of 1975 at Turfway. In March 23, 1974 he was one of the winning jockeys involved in a rare Triple Dead Heat at Latonia Racetrack, the first in Kentucky’s Thoroughbred History. Through his hard work, determination, and integrity, he has earned the respect and admiration of the racetrack community and the love of his family.

After a successful riding career of over 30 years, he retired from racing and started this Custom Made Silk business with his wife. Since 1987, we have provided special order hand-made world-class quality jockey silks, saddle towels, blinkers, and racing Ts and racing sweaters, all with a personal and caring touch. All silks are custom made to your specifications and satisfaction. Some of our satisfied customers include River Downs, Kentucky Downs, Turfway Park, numerous farms and stables, as well as individual trainers and owners. For the past several years, we have provided silks, saddle towels, blinkers for the Jim Beam Stake Races and the Kentucky Cup Races.
